Passenger Peter Crowley said he was sat in the carriage when the explosion occurred. He said his head was burned by a “really intense fireball above my head”. He added, “There were people a lot worse than me.”

The UK terrorism threat level is currently at ‘severe’, meaning an attack is highly likely. As members of the public, you will naturally become more vigilant; it’s imperative that this remains, with an increased awareness of what is going on around you.

When travelling to and from work, consider if it is sensible to wear a uniform or company branding. Although the threat isn’t directed at specific targets, we must take all reasonable measures to ensure personal safety.

Social media can be a useful way of communicating news, but please, ensure that your security settings are set to private and that you are mindful of what information you are sharing.

Police have confirmed – “Our initial priority is to assess the level and nature of injuries. More information will follow when we have it.”
