Sergio Aguero ‘suffers broken ribs’ in car crash in Amsterdam

,

Man City striker, Sergio Aguero has been badly injured in a car crash in Amsterdam, just hours after attending a concert. He was reported to be in a taxi on his way back to the airport when the incident occurred.

City has said, “he was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.”

Expected back in Manchester today, Aguero will be examined by City’s medical team, ahead of the Premier League trip to Chelsea on Saturday.

Police in Amsterdam have since confirmed that 2 people were in a taxi which crashed into the De Boelelaan area of the city.

It is thought that the player is facing the prospect of a substantial lay-off, however, as he has been reported to have suffered fractured ribs. If so, the striker could be facing at least 6 weeks in another huge set-back for City manager Pep Guardiola.

A source close to Aguero has said the player is ‘Okay’, and we wish him strength and speedy recovery.

Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko, 23, was driving along Blundel Lane near the Cobham facility at around 3.30pm when the crash happened on Thursday afternoon- escaping serious injury.

Police arrived at the scene at 4.40pm and have confirmed that luckily, no other vehicle was involved in the incident. Press pictures reveal the extent of the damage to Bakayoko’s vehicle, with the windscreen shattered and the roof caved in, which was caused when he veered off the road on Blundel Lane near the Blue’s Cobham training base.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time this season that there has been a car accident involving the Blues, as last month, a young fan was run over as he tried to collect autographs outside Cobham training centre.
